This is because of her complete lack of utility aside from healing. And there are plenty of characters that also provide healing and more. So she’s never the best-in-slot unit for any team. Instead, Qiqi is mostly just a character that you play because you like her — not because of her power level.
Pros & Cons
Qiqi Strengths
Qiqi’s main and only utility is healing — and it’s already great even with minimal investment. So she’s a good healer option in your team, especially for casual or early-game players. Just stacking ATK and Energy Recharge is enough for her to work well. This also makes her a strong candidate for the 4pc. Ocean-Hued Clam set. Its 4pc. effect converts the wielder’s total regenerated HP into Physical damage. So it can convert Qiqi’s abundance of healing into additional damage for your team. This lets her contribute a bit of damage to your total team DPS.
Qiqi Weaknesses
Qiqi doesn’t do anything aside from healing. There are plenty of other Cryo units that offer a lot more to a team — most notably, damage, healing, and energy generation. She doesn’t provide any other utility aside from healing. Plus she’s one of the very few characters that don’t generate energy particles. So it’s always optimal to just use the better units over Qiqi. Qiqi’s main competition in team slots is Diona. She’s a 4-star unit — aka a lot easier to obtain than Qiqi who’s a 5-star unit. Diona provides healing but also plenty more utility. So she’s always the better option for teams that can use Qiqi, while Qiqi can’t effectively replace Diona in any of her teams. There’s really no reason to use Qiqi if you already have the unit that can also heal… plus more.
Are Qiqi’s Constellations Good?
Qiqi has underwhelming constellations — it’s never recommended to actively pull for them. They are upgrades (mostly to her healing), but none of them significantly improve her as a unit. However, you can get them naturally while pulling in the event character banner and standard banner. So let’s take a closer look at each one.
C1: Ascetics of Frost
When Qiqi’s skill hits an opponent marked by a talisman, she regenerates 2 energy. The value of this constellation varies a lot, but it generally decreases her energy requirements — aka helps you charge her burst faster. If you often use her on-field, then you gain more energy from this effect. The energy refund is very minimal if you don’t.
C2: Frozen to the Bone
Her normal and charged attack damage against opponents affected by Cryo is increased by 15%. This constellation is only relevant when Qiqi acts as the on-field Physical DPS — which is not recommended because her Physical teams just aren’t good. Otherwise, her C2 is useless. Qiqi is simply rarely built for Physical damage and is very often off-field.
C3: Ascendant Praise
Increases her elemental burst talent level 3. It slightly increases her healing. However, the overall difference is incredibly small. Most of her healing comes from her skill, not burst. Plus her energy problems can make it difficult to charge her burst in the first place.
C4: Divine Suppression
Opponents marked by a talisman have their ATK decreased by 20%. C4 is a decent constellation that adds one more utility to Qiqi’s kit. It basically decreases the damage your characters take. However, this can be unnecessary due to Qiqi’s already strong healing.
C5: Crimson Lotus Bloom
Increases her elemental skill talent level 3. This further increases her healing ability. It’s overall nice to have but often overkill.
C6: Rite of Resurrection
Casting Qiqi’s burst revives all nearby fallen teammates and regenerates 50% of their HP. This can only occur once every 15 minutes. It’s a decent constellation that will rarely be used. In the overworld, Statues of Seven can be used to revive and fully heal all your characters. Plus the cooldown is too long that it’s not reliable in Spiral Abyss. And energy can also be an issue — you can’t trigger this effect without her burst.
