The Battleborn closed technical test is exactly that. Closed. Participants will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement stating that they will not capture game footage, livestream, post in-game images or even discuss the test publicly. With Battleborn’s release not scheduled until February 9th, 2016, Gearbox and 2K’s concern for secrecy is anything but eccentric. Participants must also have a SHiFT account to be invited to the test.

Battleborn developers plan to use the technical test to “balance characters, stress servers, squash bugs, and test the online infrastructure.” The developers recommend participants keep 4 to 8 GB of free space on their gaming platforms for the test file. PC players should check to see if their system specs meet the minimum requirements here.

Battleborn will feature 25 playable characters, a story mode with co-op and split screen capabilities, and three action packed competitive multiplayer modes.

Battleborn launches February 9th, 2016. Fans looking to head back to Pandora shouldn’t get their hopes up; a future Borderlands title won’t be with us for a while.
