Today, that changed. During a press release, GameStop announced that they will no longer be opening at the start of Black Friday. Instead, they will be opening their doors at 5 a.m. on Friday (November 27th) and will host a week-long event full of deals.
As a part of these deals, GameStop will feature new and pre-owned video game hardware, software and accessory exclusives, and GameStop exclusive collectibles - not to mention, this year’s Black Friday deals are supposed to be bigger and better than deals in the past.
Mike Buskey, Executive Vice President and President of U.S. stores, clarified the reasoning behind the decision:
According to Buskey, if a customer does want to partake in some shopping on Thanksgiving Day, both GameStop and ThinkGeek will be open for orders.
The decision also applies to all of Gamestop’s Technology Brands: Spring Mobile, Simply Mac, Cricket Wireless, and the ThinkGeek retail store.
